Purchacing the correct cupbouard door hinge. Please Help!

by squirmyj » Tue Aug 25, 2020 7:07 pm

I am trying to replace cupboard hinge which has broken but have underestimted my knowledge of hinge types and angles. I went to Screwfix and bought the first hinge I saw and sadly it was not the correct hinge for the cupboard with the "closed door" angle postion being the main factor. The hinge I am looking for must be 180 degrees or in a straighline when the cupboard is closed (I really hope that makes sense as I am real DIY noob). I have pictures of the working hinge with door open so hopefully there is someone that can help. Does anyone know what type of hinge this is?

Hi squirmyj
The hinge you have fitted is a concealed cabinet hinge, you need to remove the best one and measure its dimensions in the open and closed positions especially the relationship of the hinge hole and the side of the cupboard. Blum have an excellent web site for identifying hinges but you will have to register.
