Raising Fence Height Using Tensioned Straps

by fishnet » Tue May 06, 2014 12:33 am

I need to raise fence height by 0.5 metre for climbing plants. I propose to fix one metre heavy duty straps on posts 9 feet apart and suspend 'netlon' or similar, threaded with wire ropes fixed to the straps
Do not know how to attach ropes to straps and produce the necessary tension
please advise

You need to fix the wires at one end of the fence and attach a wire strainer at the other. Fix the wire to the strainer and tighten to put stress on the wire. You will need to make sure your post extensions are really well fixed as straining may simply pull the post over rather than make the wire taught.

You can buy fence strainers from Amazon. Hope this helps
