We have recently moved into a new house and are about to start decorating one of the bedrooms. At present, the finish on the walls is terrible (peeling paint, lots of screw holes that need filling etc). We have stripped some of the peeling paint off the walls already (there appears to be several coats of paint previously applied). Is it best to scape all the walls back to the plaster and then sand and prime everything before re-painting or is it ok to scrape the peeling areas only then sand down to blend in before priming the areas where the plaster is exposed before painting the whole lot? We are new to all this so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
