Rear Outdoor Tap but no Rear Mains Supply

by bingham84 » Fri Apr 07, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi all, this is my first post as I can't seem to find the answer for this anywhere (if one exists at all).
I want to have an outdoor tap in my back garden but there is no mains water at the back of my house. Both the kitchen and the bathroom are situated at the front.
I have an outdoor tap at the front of the house, but I live in a terraced house so can't run a house around to the back, for example.
How difficult/expensive would it be to try and get a tap at the back?

A lot will depend on what type of house you have & what flooring you have. If there is floorboards down stairs it wont be to difficult. Or a bungalow will also be a little easier to do.

Hi,

There are a few options you can look at.

Firstly do you have any sinks (eg bathroom) at the back of the property (even if they are on the first floor)?

Secondly, do you have any soil stacks in the corners of the back of the house, which could be used to run a pipe into the ceiling?

Thirdly whats the distance between the nearest tap on the ground floor to the garden?
