Recurring Crack Across Kitchen Ceiling Where 2 Ceilings Join

by gegsie » Thu Jan 15, 2015 5:52 pm

About two years ago a crack appeared across the full width of my kitchen ceiling. A builder who was working on another job here said that it was due to two ceilings being joined together during an earlier kitchen extension and house movement. He suggested the only solution would be to re-plasterboard the whole ceiling (some 10 x 4m).
Last year I had a professional painter and decorator tackle the crack - he dug it out, taped it, re-filled it and painted it - it looked good. Six months later it has opened up again.
Can anyone advise what next? Many thanks.
