Removing GU4 12 v Halogen Downlighters

Post by actoms » Thu Sep 01, 2022 5:21 pm

I have three of these downlighters installed in a panel above the bathroom washbasin. I am looking to replace them with a driver and three 12v LEDs.
Unfortunately I cannot discover how the existing units are fixed in place. The bezel underneath, after removal of the decorative ring is thin and black with no screws. I expected to find that when I removed the top cover I would find spring clips but there are none. I am putting the two pic here.
Does anyone know how I can safely remove them without damaging their housing? Thanks

Hi actoms,
I seem to recall that there are metal fingers fixed around the body of the lamp. You need to rotate the light to release the fingers, if you rotate the lamp the wrong way the fingers will dig deeper into the housing.
