Removing UPVC Door Handles With no Screws Holding Plate on

by Barrysh » Wed Aug 30, 2017 4:59 pm

Hi, the UPVC handles on my front door are loose. I've looked on You tube and there are plenty of clips but they all have 2 screws holding the plate on. Mine has none front or back. How do they come off. The handles and the whole plate also containing the lock are loose. Thanks

The screws are covered by a backplate on the handles. You need to lever those covers off taking care not to mark the door . Then you'll see the screws on the inside of the door which need tightening. To tighten up the actual lock fitting , remove the faceplate and you'll see 2 screws to tighten which hold the lock in the door.

Hi, thanks for the reply, still haven't fathomed it out yet. Can't see how the plate can come off. Have attached 2 photos which may help.
Thanks, Barry

Hi Barry, they are quite unusual. Have you looked to see if there are any grub screws securing the handles to the spindle? I still think that the only possibility is that the screws are concealed behind a removable backplate.
