Repairing crumbling mortar in garage before painting

by lorna p » Wed Jul 22, 2020 12:23 pm

I am planning to paint the inside of my brick built garage. In many places the mortar is crumbling away to dust which the paint won't adhere to. Any suggestions for how to patch those areas so that I can paint them? Typically the crumbling section is only an inch long.

Hi lornap
For your painting to be successful you will have to rake out loose material and repoint, even so if it is a single skin garage your paint will come off due to damp penetration especially at lower levels.
