by andy johnson » Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:23 am

Hi my first post to diydoctor. i had new roof fitted over two years ago, it was part of council regeneration programme. The problem is they never replaced the facia boards, not part of the deal i was told after the work was carried out. and there now looking in need of replacing. Can someone advise me as to how much this will cost etc etc.

There is no way anyone can give you a reliable price on line Andy, there are too many variables and you leave yourself open to being ripped off as well. Any price on this forum can only be a guess, a tradesman would want to see the job, identify the best way of doing it, see if the gutters can stand up to being removed and replaced again, make sure there is sufficiant ventilation either behind the facia or under the tiles and so on. Most jobs in the building industry are not as simple as they appear to be and it is only cowboys who simply steam in, rip things apart and replace them with little or no thought for any consequences. Please get at least three quotes, on site, for what needs to be done.
