Replaced Ceiling Rose now one Bulb in Hallway is Dim

by lexlagoon » Fri Nov 30, 2018 12:59 pm

Hi Guys.

I had to replace a ceiling rose in a hallway where there are two lights which are both controlled by two switches.

I have wired up the new ceiling rose and now the bulb in the new one is very dim whilst the bulb in the existing rose is fine. I've checked that the bulb is generally OK in another light fitting.

On my existing rose there is one cable with black and red wires in. They are wired up with the black going to the blue wire that leads to the bulb and the red is connected to the brown wire that leads to the bulb.

My new rose has two cables both with red and black in them. One I have identified as being the switched one and this is attached to the brown wire to the bulb. The two reds are looped together and the other black wire is connected to the blue wire to the bulb.

Please can some kind person advise?

Your drawings are correct, so the error must be in your connections, or you have changed something else and neglected to mention it.
