I have a bathroom switch that controlled the extraction fan and light and is labeled 20x 250v. I bought a double pole 20amp 240 volt switch (with neom light) as it's replacement.
When I jumped into removing the old switch I noticed a peculiar set up:
Fan circuit (both brown)
1 wire in L2
1 wire in L1
Light circuit (both brown)
1 wire in N2
1 wire in N1
Then there is a brown bridge wire from L1 to N1.
On the new switch, there is no N1 N2 L1 L2, there is N and L in, N and L out. I basically mirrored the old switch set up into the new one and it works, with the exception of the neon light.
What was the deal with the old switch set up? Doesn't seem to follow the normal set up. Also, why does the new switch use in and out nomenclature instead of 1, 2. Any idea why the neon light doesn't light up?
