We have a farmhouse in France built of stone (walls 2 feet thick) on very heavy clay soil.
If we dig out the old floors (tiles on earth) to a depth of 550mm and replace with wooden suspended flooring, is it likely to damage the structure of the house? I am concerned about everything drying out too much and undermining the structure. So far we have almost completed one room with 2 airbricks to the outside and there will be air vents to the communicating rooms.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated. This is a massive project and we would like to get it right without the house falling down!!
