Replacing Hot Water Booster Pump.

by gotabelt » Mon Dec 19, 2011 2:43 pm

I need to replace a previously fitted hot water pump but not sure if I need a negative head pump or positive. The pump and hot water cylinder are both sited on the ground floor with the pump next to the cylinder also sitting on the floor. Advise please and thanks.

Generally if the pump is below the bottom of the header tank then a standard pump will do. A negative head pump has entirely different types of fitting so you cannot confuse the two. Why not identify the existing pump and replace it with the same?

Dear Plumbob

thanks for your reply but sadly I cannot identify the pump as it has been knocked about a bit and there are no identifying plates on it. But I will go with your suggestion and have seen a suitable pump on eBay.
