Hi,
I’d like to replace the thermostats in my heating system and need some advice.
Reason for doing this: I want to take advantage of the modulation and weather compensating functionality of my boiler
One thermostat is connected wirelessly and sends a signal back to a wireless receiver, which is connected to the boiler. It also controls the hot water cylinder.
The other is a wired thermostat and controls the under floor heating.
The existing thermostats are from different manufacturers and need to be programmed independently.
I would like to replace both thermostats with Bosch Easy Control CT200s wireless ones.
I have a Bosch boiler (Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000 Life system boiler), which can accommodate the Bosch RF unit (it slots directly in the underside), for sending signals to wireless thermostats.
A Bosch certified heating engineer has told me that it won’t be possible to use Bosch Easy Control, which I find surprising.
I get that the UFH manifold is separate to the boiler, so the Bosch RF unit won’t be able to control it directly, but I this is not an overly complex set up - the equivalent to 3 zones, I believe.
The engineer also said that the boiler will already be able to modulate with my existing (opentherm) thermostats, but I don’t think that’s correct.
The Bosch boiler uses their proprietary EMS2 protocol.
Can anyone advise if I can use Bosch Easy Control thermostats with my system, give me an idea how and if possible, provide any links to resources?
Thanks!
