Hi guys, I live in a 1930's semi and have a few broken spindles on my banister railing. Im unfamiliar with their construction and any joins are covered under years worth of gloss.
Ive done some 'delicate' sounding with a hammer and there appears to be some movement in the upper rail above the spindles. I dont want to damage anything by going in hammer and tongs and in typical 30's style, the newel post and rail are sturdy as rocks.
Just to clarify, all i want to do is remove the old/broken spindles and replace them. Can anyone assist or give me info on generic banister contruction?
Many thanks
