RESTORE THE ORIGINAL FLOORBOARDS OF GO FOR LAMINATE?????

by debbiej » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:57 pm

Could anybody tell me the benefit of sanding and varnishing the original floorboards. I have recently had a flood and have taken up the laminate and flooring that was underneath. The boards have now dried out and I have been told that they are in very good condition and would look good sanded and varnished. After reading various comments, to sand and varnish seems like a big messy job. Will the cost of hiring a sander and buying the varnish etc save me much and will the results be worth it or should I just replace the laminate??

High quality sanded floors can add to the value of a house while laminate can detract from it.

I would suggest that the sanded and varnished option would be well worth the hassle involved. You'll kick yourself forever if you go for the laminate option.
