I need to rebuild part of my patio and I am looking for some suggestions. Photo attached, it is the part with furniture on that needs to be rebuilt. The section I need to rebuild is a square extension to the original patio that runs along the back on my house. The patio is raised about 200mm from the lawn and the retaining wall is flags concreted in which are bowing. So the question it, what should I use as a retaining wall? If I do footing and bricks, I think the footing and some of the first course of bricks would be below the level of the lawn. Does that matter? any other thoughts?
I will only need to do 2 sides of a square, as the original a patio forms one side and a fence provides another side. Other info, area is around 3.5m x 3.5m and the soil is very clay heavy. So it prone to surface flooding when it rains and I live in Manchester.......
