Ripples in PLaster

been plastering a dining room ...everything was fine the plastering looked fine ....even when it had dried no problems ...but when it was painted you could see ripples on it ...ujst wondered why this would be ..when all my prep was ok ...??? any help on this issue

did you wet trowel? sounds to me like the trowel was skipping across the surface - if its left a series of ridges then thats the cause. you can sand or refill with a fine surface filler.

yeah i done the wet trowel .....thinking back ....would it have made a differance if i had plastered the wall and the pva hadent dried properly ??.....and i also chipped the wall ...can it make a differance on how deep the key is ??? other walls are fine , just this one?? thx

these ridges can also be caused by trying to trowl up to soon or going over it to often as this pulls moisture to the surface.
