Roof Lead Flashing Repair Job Advice

by woolyg » Thu Mar 05, 2020 5:31 pm

Hi Guys, In the summer I hired a roofer off MyBuilder who had 300 5* feedbacks, my lead had come away from the stone work around the window. I thought instead of doing it myself I would get a professional, in hindsight, I am not convinced on the quality of the job, if this is the correct way of doing the job, I could have easily done the job myself. The reason I am posting now is that another window has gone the same way and I am left wondering how is the best way to carry out the repair.

The roofer who done my job in the summer used flashband to reseal the original lead flashing. Here is a couple of pictures of the work he did.

Here is a picture of another window which now has the same problem and to give you a better idea of the tile and lead flashing layout and the work that needs doing to the lead.

And here is a close up of the lead where it is open and the cement which previously sealed it and has now broken away.

As the lead has not been cut into the stone work it makes it more difficult to repair.

Did the roofer why came out in the summer use the best approach?
Can anybody advise what the best approach would be?

Thanks
