Rotten Floorboards

Post by mjcopo » Sun Nov 03, 2024 11:53 am

Noticed some floorboards were rotten near to old wooden french doors. Assuming the damp was being caused by the doors they have now been replaced so about to tackle the floor, see what the damage is and replace where needed.

This is a 1960s house with what appears to be 20mm × 90mm boards, which by the looks of it are hard to find. Any tips on what to use to replace the damaged ones?
Cheers!

Hi mjcopo,
Wickes stock 21mm thick floorboards which I found to be better than standard softwood floorboards or 22mm chipboard sheets. You can either accept the joins won’t line up or machine the floorboards down to size.
