Running electrical cables under a bath

by Joe Soap » Mon Feb 25, 2008 2:03 am

Hi there,

I wondered if someone could give me some advice.

I wondered if someonce could tell me if it is legal to run electrical wiring under a bath ? ( inside the bath cavity )

I rent a flat which recently had a leak in the bathroom. Water from the shower was running down through the faulty sealant on the edge of the bath and down over the floor.

When my landlord came around to fix it he took the side panel off and I noticed there was an electrical cable there running from the electrical switchboard to the kitchen area. It was standard electrical cable ( in white plastic - not in any kind of trunking though )

Is this legal ?

As long as you need a tool or key to remove the panel yes it would be allowed.
