Ryobu RBC30Set Clutch Housing Replacement

by finchys » Sat Aug 22, 2020 8:08 pm

Replacing the clutch housing on a Ryobi RBC30Set strimmer as it has rounded off and the drive shaft doesn't engage anymore. Should be simple cheap fix but.....

It is older model than current ones which just use a central screw to secure the housing I believe. See attached image showing a retaining clip type protection washer. How can I remove this? Have tried needle nose pliers without success.
Based on parts listing https://www.magic-parts.co.uk/acatalog/ ... PHP#SID=19 if I could just release this protection washer clip the housing and bearing should be free.

Any tips / ideas to try?

Hi finchys
You need some circling pliers to remove the circling, buy some cheap ones which have a reversible action.
