The external wall (above the beam) of our house is timber t&g, which connects to the concrete beam beneath it. The t&g strips run vertically from the roof to the beam.
During extreme wind and rain, the connection between the t&g and beam is completely inadequate....it's as if someone is spraying a hosepipe from on top of the beam and it has flooded parts of our house twice now.
My first attempt was to seal the external connection with silicon, but that's not worked. Possibly because it's always exposed to sun and rain, so in time it just decays. I'm now looking for a permanent solution....I'd gratefully welcome any suggestions. Is mortar with waterproof paint applied to it a good idea? Or some kind of more durable sealant?
Also bear in mind that I live in Ghana, where there is extreme sunshine, humidity and rain for much of the year.
