Sealing/Painting Garage Walls Instead Of Roughcasting

by catherinemuirhead » Wed May 02, 2007 1:52 pm

There is significant damage to my garage walls and someone has told me it would be possible to remove the roughcast and seal/paint the walls rather than having the whole garage roughcast again. Is this possible, and if so what materials should I use and where can I get them?

See our project on waterproofing external masonry. If, after rough cast removal, the condition of the masonry is OK, sealing with a breathable sealer should be fine. You may have to repoint the joints though. See our project on repointing brickwork.
