Re: What Paint for Oak Windows

Did your windows come with any guarantee? It would be sad to paint them after such a short period of time. Your first need to understand why it is happening, if it's a fungus, it would need to be addressed first. Sadly no amount of sanding will help much, there are some acids on the market that can ...

Best heating option for garage conversion?

What is the best heating option for a garage conversion?

Connecting to the house boiler is not possible, the garage is detached at 50 yards from the house.

Looking at electric radiators, but they look expensive to run?

Cheers

Re: 5 coats and still paint on kitchen walls looks patchy?

It looks like the wall itself is patchy/uneven.

No amount of paint will fix that.

See my reply https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/forums/flaking-paint-on-hallway-wall-due-to-incorrect-preparation-t49656.html#p119688 where I stated 3 options you have to fix this.

Re: Flaking paint on hallway wall due to incorrect preparation

I've been through this several time. You have 3 options. 1. Sand best you can and paint over. If light hits the wall at an angle and you look straight along the wall it will look "rustic"! 2. Lining paper. Get a really thick lining paper say 2000 grade. It will eliminate the unevenness as ...

Re: Exterior Painting and Preventing Dust/Debris Sitting on Surface Before Top Coat

The only real way is to cover the house which is overkill.

You're never going to eliminate all debris, just make sure to minimize the time between coats and paint when there is no wind or gusts.

Some little bits shouldn't cause the paint to flake if you are using good quality paint.

Good luck!

Your laminate floor will be the best option but use an underlay which form a DPM.

Thanks. Can you get laminate underlay which has DPM in them? Or would I need to lay DPM layer then put laminate underlay on top?

Do I need to insulate garage floor?

Garage conversion into an office space separate from the house. Do I need to insulate the floor with the really thick boards? Currently, it is just concrete. I don't want to raise the floor much due to the height of some props I need to keep in the garage. I am thinking to either painting the concre...
