It wont make any difference whether you heating on or not. Check mains pressure at kitchen tap, if its fine then you have a shower problem

Are the taps designed for low pressure systems? Whats the minimum working pressure? On gravity systems I find its always best to stick with conventional taps

Its not something you can do as a DIYer as whoever installs the combi will have to be Corgi registered. It can be a fairly straightforward job depending on circumstances

You dont need to drain the hot water to fix a tap. But if you did drain the cylinder and the immersion and central heating was on then yes I imagine you would damage the cylinder

drain needs to be at lowest point on system. So unless your boiler is on the floor then no. Water wont drain upwards now will it? :? You should have a drain somewhere on the ground floor, if you have an old system then you may no, in which case you should get a plumber to come and drain down and ins...

These qualifications arent worth nothing and wont get you a job. Plumbing firms take apprentices from local colleges, and look for time served plumbers to employ. The only way to get the NVQ level 2 is to start up on your own. Plumbing is becoming over subscribed, you have been warned.

Are they quarter turn ceramic disc taps?, if so then you just need to change the handing so that they both turn off/on the same way. If they are conventional taps then I cannot see how they are both different, as far as I know all tap headgears turn on/off the same way

Yes just go for a standard gravity fed shower with a pump to boost pressure. You may need to get a larger cold water storage cistern fitted aswel to cope with the increased usage due to the pump.

Tap wont turn off

My eldest has recently moved house and brought to my attention that the hot tap in her bathroom will not turn off. Once you have turned it on it wont turn back, you have to keep on turning back and forth until it finally shuts off. I tried to have a look inside it but it looks like its seized up and...

yeah it seems like a puzzler all right, you may have to use abit of guess work. I would start by popping a new thermo in, by the sounds of it you could end up becoming a regular visitor to the mother in laws
