Emergency lights

Hello folks. What is the score with certification of emergency lighting now? I've just fitted 3 non-maintained emergency lights in a small shop refurb. Nothing special- just one by the entrance door, one in the main area and one in the W/C Fed from the lighting circuit via a test switch. This I've d...

When you send in your fee and register for your assessment day. They will send you an information pack. In the pack you will find an H&S policy and a risk assessment proforma. You just need to sign the H&S policy and I photocopied the proforma to use on each job. Very quick and easy to use. ...

metal capping

What is the general thoughts behind using metal capping (i.e. covering cables in a normal domestic installation) and earthing. I have always used plastic, so never really been an issue. About 10 years ago, when I last did any domestic work, we used to earth it to the back boxes. But I believe, since...

Consumer unit replacement

hello folks. Can anybody tell me where it states exactly what tests to carryout after replacing a consumer unit. I've had a scan through GN3, on-site and and 7671. And all I can come up with is that a minor cert can't be used. As a general rule I usually carry out a full test on all the individual c...

ventilation in bathrooms

Hi

What does the building regs say about ventilation in a bathroom. I've heard that if you have an opening window, there isn't any requirement for an electric fan.

Kind Regards Gary

Thanks for the ideas. It is only the copper pipes that I wanted to bond, but I considered bonding just the radiator has a last resort. Not ideal, I know, but trying to conform with the current regs seems to be a bit of a problem some time. As regards to the size of the strap. I physically tried to u...

Supplementry bonding

Hello folks. Can you get earth strap clamps for microbore sized cable. The reason I ask is that I've got a radiator in the bathroom that is fed with microbore pipes(10mm) and it requires supplementry bonding. The standard clamps that you can get off the shelf seem to be too big for the job. I've con...
