All reds should be together in connector block seperate to light fitting, .Normally one of the blacks should be sleeved or taped with red marking so as to indicate switch live . hi , both cooker and hob can be connected together in same control unit as long as neither the cooker or the hob is more than 2 metres away from the control unit. .You can make the connections by running two cables from the control unit , one to the oven and the other to the hob . Alternatively , yo...

hi heffs , a 6amp mcb can safely handle about 1200 watts, but in practice should not serve more than ten lighting points . The circuit would overload if lights had high wattage bulbs . However 1210 watts equates to about 5.2 amp , assuming you have low wattage bulbs and allowing 66% of total current...

hi chris, i doubt that you will have enough cable on existing wiring to acheive move to walls from skirt . you have 2 options new circuit wiring back to fuse box or junction box under floor to new switch fittings . Best to use plaster board fittings on stud wall . Cheers Jeff .

what you have is 2 cables , 1circuit cable end of radial circuit and 1 switch cable , so these are the cables you will use . With the spots there should be some instructions , but i would take a length of 1mm twin and earth from the new junction box to proximity of transformer and chock block to fle...

hi , not being able to see your room makes it a bit awkward , however how about mini trunking under wall cupboards to nearest socket at floor level and surface mount socket , other than that i don't see a solution . At least the trunking will not be seen under pelmet unless you purposely look for it...

hi , cables need to be 50mm above ceiling and 50mm below floor , if running with joists then these cables need to be clipped not exceeding 250mm , obviously against joists then either place cables in earthed steel conduit and notch out top of joists or drill through joists in centre line , maximum d...

hi ft again just as a matter of interest is it raining when it trips. ? 2 have you any outside lights . Reason being if you get moisture in lights or sockets ,this would or could cause an earth leakage which will cause rcd to trip .Interesting keep in touch Jeff

hi ft , more likely to be the rcd than whole consumer unit , but sounds more like earth leakage problem , will have to investigate by ellimination as to where the fault lies , . An electrician will be able to do ramp test and rcb test to to eleiminate rcd . Cheers jeff
