HI i'm afraid your friend is incorrect any PVA is water based and will soften with water contact. you should only be sealing porcelain tiles if 1. its a polished porcelain and 2. you are using a dark coloured grout . Yes you can use floor grout on wall tiles but remember floor grouts use a course sand as filler so try in small area first to see if it may scratch the mosaic tiles
