I am wanting to put roll out grass onto a garage roof to make a garden and would like to know if it has to be put onto some sort of compost or soil or can I just lay it onto the flat roof??

I am puting an lcd tv onto my chimney breast and want to know how exactly to track the walls out to fit the av and electrical wires into the wall and out of sight??
