Hi, I'm getting a huge house built and i want a combi boiler. I don't have space for a cylinder because i need all the storage i can get and I've been told i can't put anything heavy in the loft because the rafters wont take large amounts of weight anymore. Question, Who told you that it is illegal to install a shower? If it was why would B&Q be offering this? Google "diy.com/diy/jsp/bq_advice/common/howtos/installelectricshower/main.pdf" I agree, connecting it to the mains consumer unit may be the rest is not. Also installing a pump on a...

I'll try to help here if i can, what i suggest you do it change the water supply to the boiler and put in a new supply from the spring to the boiler that way when you flush a loo or use a tap the boiler isn't being starved of water or pressure. I own several hotels and restaurants and i am having a ...

you've said it your self "when you lift the shower head above the waterline in the hot water tank it stops coming out altogether and after a few seconds starts flowing back into the hot water tank" I'm afraid to say "Well yes!" that's what a gravity system is all about. there is ...

I'm not a plumber but here's what i say!: Nah, not a problem. Its just the install, the hot and cold water pipes are touching in places in the house and the hot water pipe is transferring the heat to the cold. I had this problem in a hotel i used to own and yes it did get gradually worse and worse b...

open vented hot water

Good Evening all. Long time since i have been on here. I'd like to know about open vented hot cylinders. How does the water flow from the tank in the loft to the cylinder? i know that the water enters the loft tank via the mains pipe and runs through a ball cock. I also know that the pipe that feeds...

Oil Fired Boiler

I have just bought a new house and the builders have put in a "Wallstar" oil fired boiler. Are they any good? I generally dislike oil for heating because it means that you then need to have both oil and gas. I cook with gas because its instant heat, it’s more controllable then electric and...

Lock Shield Valves

This will probably be a daft question to most people, but I am re-furbishing a 3 bed detached bungalow and I have put in a new gas combi boiler. Do I actually need Lock Shield valves? What is there purpose?

Thanks.
