Dulux Paint Showing Finger Marks and Going Glossy When Wiped - What is Going on?

We used 5lt of Vinyl Soft Sheen washable mixer paint to refresh a couple of rooms which already had the same paint/colour on. When putting up pictures a week after painting I noticed every little finger mark was making the soft sheen much more 'glossy' so everywhere it had been touched shines in the...

Just had another one fitted in family bathroom but because of route the pipes have to go it's like showering under a watering can........needs more welly! Clearly needs a pump for this one but so many to choose from. Can anyone re...

Re: Leaking shower door

Seem to have found the answer to my own question here http://www.showeradvisor.co.uk/water-le ... tray-leaks A definite NO, so will strip off existing external silicon and replace, see if that works.

Leaking shower door

Hope I can explain this well enough! We have a fully tiles shower cubicle. The framework for the shower door does not seem to sit 'tight enough' on the low rise shower tray & there appears to be a minute gap of a mm or two running the whole length (but a touch more pronounced at either end). It ...

Re: Pressure for Mira Atom with Diverter

Thanks very much for that. It says "minimum operating pressure 0.1 bar, if running both outlets 0.25 bar". Hubby will check out position of the header tank too. If necessary we may just return the shower and swap to one without the diverter, only really chose it as on offer for £199. Never...

Pressure for Mira Atom with Diverter

For 15 years have had basic Triton thermo mixer shower - gravity fed, with absolutely no problems, always steady temperature even when other taps running/loo flushing. Have now bought a Mira Atom with Diverter thermo shower, the one which has 'ordinary' shower head plus the bigg'ish 'dish' ty...

Thanks Chris. Hubby tends to prefer the 'wash brushes in water' style paint, but I agree it might not be the best option for 'finish', (but maybe best for ease of cleaning brushes).

Back to oil based gloss for him! Will give your recommendation a go.

Best White Gloss??

Which is the best white gloss to use? We're going to decorate the hallway - with a LOT of doors so want the paint which will stay the whitest, longest. Can't recall what we used last time, it has a faintly matt look and I know the paintbrushes could be washed in water. Just not sure they shouldn't h...

We had an MDF shelf cut along its edge into a 'wavy' design. We bought an MDF sealant from an ordinary DiY store, put 2 or 3 good coats of this along the cut 'wavy' edge so the top coats of paint could not be absorbed into the MDF. Brilliant, worked a treat. Painting it no probs, the paint didn't si...

Bathroom sink slow to drain

Upstairs sink drains REALLY slowly. Have used super plunger, Buster bathroom plughole unblocker (many times), problem improves for a while but reappears so we go through the same process every few months! House about 12 years old. Any ideas for better DiY solution or might it be a job for plumber (i...

Thanks rosebery - Crown have now said we should have used a coat of oil based primer before painting the walls to act as a vapour barrier and stopping moisture from the new emulsion penetrating the existing old emulsion and causing blistering. I don't know, in 2006 they say use either 50/50 water/em...

Crown Paint - absolutely appalling

Don't know about anyone else, but our experience using Crown emulsion (twice) has been appalling - NEVER AGAIN!!!** :( Despite good preparation this paint covers the walls in tiny clusters of air bubbles. To cut a long story short, in 2006 when this first happened, they advised a 50/50 water/emulsio...

Bathroom sink waste outlet leaking

Fitted new waste outlet to bathroom sink, (the sink has an internal overflow) the inside sink piece has rubber seal (and I've put a bit of extra sealant). Below sink piece has a rubber washer (one side flat and one side domed) and a large nut. Doesn't seem to make a difference which way below sink w...
