oven plugged in to socket

whilst I'm on the subject of our oven I thought I should just ask this to be on the safe side. Our oven is plugged in to a normal kitchen socket with a 13A plug. I've done the maths and the current rating is ok for the fuse. However, the plug only accommodates live and neutral and no earth. Should t...

oven not getting hot

our smeg oven SC371MFX doesnt seem to be getting hot after a short that tripped the circuits.

The oven clock, cooling fan and interior light are still working, but it doesnt heat up.

Is this fixable DIY or do I need to buy a new oven?

ColdMac

Hello, We had a small wall built next to our main path at the side of our house, and this meant digging down for the footings of the wall. The wall is finished however the tarmac path is now damaged near the wall where the digging took place. I've seen something called ColdMac, which I presume is a ...

Now, under our house is a deep void which you can walk around in (almost) so I can get right under the living room, and righ...

Disconnection of a Gas appliance?

Quick question... I am getting a new gas hob for the kitchen. It's basically a case of take the old one out and put the new one in. My question is, am I able to disconnect the old hob and remove it? There is an isolation valve on the feed pipe below the hob which I will shut off, before disconnectin...

so... based on P=IV...

assuming Voltage is 230V, then anything less than 2990 should be ok on a 13 amp plug?

I mean, the worst that should happen is the fuse would keep blowing, right?

it just fell out in my hands. behind the grill was a brick tunnel throught he cavity. I installed in its place, a square piece of 9mm ply with a hole in the centre. On the back was a piece of waste pipe with a small grill on the end to stop bugs climbing in. On the front, I installed a low voltage e...
