There is an RCD for the circuit and it hasn't happened again but I'll get it checked anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

Static off 2 gang switch

Hello, we've got brass sockets, newish, installed about 5 years ago in a 20 year old house. Last night I went to switch off a phone charger and got a minute spark as I touched the plate. I went around touching other plates without anything happening. I am the sort of person who gets a static shock t...

Rubber Grommets

I've found that I have around 5 or 6 new sockets that don't have rubber grommets fitted in the back box.
It's an extension of the ring main that's been added into a house extension.

Is this a major problem, should I disconnect everything and add them?

Outside light

Might be a daft question this one, but, can I rig up an outside light, just drill through the wall, feed cable through, fit a 3 pin plug and leave it plugged into an existing socket?

Ring main extended to conservatory - legal?

I've traced an extended ring main in my house out into the conservatry and I'm not sure whether it's safe or legal. The cable goes from a socket, behind plasterboard and around the internal corner of the room, out through the outside wall of the house into the conservatory. Down the inside of the pl...
