I am in the process of revamping my bathroom and am down to the final stages. I have bought some silver,half-round border tiles to provide an edging feature and am at a loss as to how I should cut them. Treating a stone fireplace

Recently bought a very old Grade listed house. The living room has an inglenook fireplace made stone. Looks like sandstone. The vendors inform me that it sheds dust which "eats" the carpet. Is there any reason why I cannot seal this stone with something simple such as matt varnish? I have ...
