Fitting a new mixer shower

Is it straight forward remove an old mixer shower and fit a new one? Is there anything I need to be aware of or anything special I need to do. I plan to buy the new unit from B&Q and fit it myself.

Problems with my Cascade Mixer Shower

Initially the shower would not turn off properly and water trickled out even when firmly turned off. Now I need to use a screwdriver to turn the shower on and off/change water temp. Can I fix this?
