Removing Tap top to fit new washer

Most of the taps in the house have hexagonal washers which I can get at but I have a dripping cold water tap in a washbasin where there tap has a chrome top which fits over and hides the "innards" of the tap. I cannot see any obvious way of removing the chrome top - How do I do this. When ...

Water overflowing from Toilet Cistern into overflow pipe

The water level is rising too high when the cistern refills after flushing so the excess overflows into the outside pipe. Under the old system I could adjust the ballcock arm which I think was copper but the modern cistern has plastic components There is a white plastic arm then a red joint below it...
