I should have mentioned that the extension is an old one - hence no cavity. Am I right in thinking this means there won't be any wall ties?

I've just had my kitchen redone with one of the walls completely replastered and a skim on the ceiling and various parts of the wall. My intention had been to use a 'kitchen' paint for the final coat on the ceiling and walls. But a) I'm unsure whether this is a good idea and b) whether it is or not,...
