Stuart & Turner 2 Bar Twin Pump Problem

I have a Stuart & Turner standard 2 bar twin pump fitted running 2 shower rooms. The shower rooms are back to back. When the pump was fitted 2 months ago both showers pumped no problem, regardless of which one was opened first. Now, if I turn on the valve in one shower room (the nearest valve to...

Shower Pump Disaster After Fitting Stuart and Turner Standard 2 Bar Pump

What a disaster. Just fitted a new pump (Stuart and Turner standard 2 bar) to an aqualisa concealed valve shower system. As soon as the pump kicked in I had water gushing out from the back of the airing cupboard. I managed to expose the back board on which the valve has been mounted in the cavity an...

Replacement UPVC Fascia and Soffits for old Hardboard Soffits

Hi All. I've just had my fascia and soffits replaced with a UPVC product. Previously I had hardboard soffits with a vent running all the way round. The spec for the job said a continuous over fascia vent would be used but it looks like the contractor has fitted it every metre or so on 2 sides of the...

thanks Stoneboy - I will do that. What should be done with the fixing to stop the expansion moving the window?

UPVC windows flexing

I have had replacement uPVC windows fitted. They have a dark wood effect. When it is hot the windows 'move away' from the inside wall at the top and bottom corners leaving an approx. 5mm gap which lets draughts come thru. Any filler / sealant put around the inside of the frame cracks and looks unsig...

Nuisance RCD tripping

my RCD is tripping intermittently. I have power circuits and a solar PV installation protected by the RCD. RCD tripped today with no change in load on the circuits i.e. fridge, freezer, TV (on standby) were all on and it tripped without any new load do solar PV installations potentially cause RCD pr...

Lighting circuits tripping

I've moved in to a new house and identified a problem with the lighting circuits. The circuits have 1mm cable but have 16a MCBs fitted i.e. no circuit protection is being provided. I changed to a 6a MCB and the lights keep tripping despite, on the face of it, the load being low. On one circuit I hav...

Head gear won't budge

I am trying to replace a ceramic cartidge in some bathroom taps. I cannot get the head gear off. Taps are about 6 years old. Any tips on how to get them off - my presumption is they should just pull off the nylon / plastic sleeve on the cartridge head. I have tried penetrating lubricant spray to no ...

Fitting an outside tap

I have fitted a compression wall plate with the water supply coming in in a horizontal pipe. When I tighten up the 1/2" bib tap it finishes upside down! How can I get the tap to be in the correct vertical position?

thanks

Buzzing consumer unit

I have recently fitted some dimmable low energy bulbs and changed the dimmer switch (link below) which I was advised was designed to be used with low energy dimmable bulbs However, when I now have the lights on (dimmed or on full power) I get a buzzing on the breaker at the consumer unit. Does anyon...
