Yeah, that's what I thought it might be. The tiles should keep the water out and probably did for the first 20-25 years of their life but that now seems to be coming to an end. I'm trying to postpone a new roof but it's looking more and more like that is the only option.

I have what I suspect is an unusual roof construction. There is a layer of felt which would not take any water outside the house, then a layer of polystyrene insulation followed by an air gap and then concrete tiles. Hi whtan, I'm a little late to be replying now but hopefully you'll still get this and it might be of use. We have to release the pressure using the hot tap. I don't know why this is but I guess the supply pressure varies and is high at quiet times with the non return valve in the hot system stoppin...

Attaching Brass to PVC

Hi,

I've got a PVC front door and a metal house number which I'd like to attach to it. The number is certainly brass in appearance but may be some other alloy.

Can anybody recommend a type of glue which would attach the number to the door.

Hiring a structural engineer would probably be advisable before digging around the foundations of the building. Particularly as the rock in question may be what the building is built on!

I don't think anyone is going to advise you to blow the change on a car before you've even got a quote. I'd suggest the best course of action would be to get some quotes from local roofing companies, then keep the change in the bank until the job is done just incase there is a problem with anything ...

I don't know about the lagality of positioning the tank there, however you're title deed should show who own the land or if it is shared. Assuming it's legally shared ground then they can't put the tank there without you're permission. (Or at least you have as much right to remove it as they have to...

We purchased out's about 18 months ago so unlikely to be the same batch.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. When I tried Mira said they would send an engineer out but if they didn't think it was faulty I would have to pay. I decided that the problem wasn't great enough to take the risk.

We have a mini duo which does a similar thing, although not all the time. When our hot water has been idle for a while it runs at high pressure for a few seconds (A phenomenom no one has been able to fully explain). If this pressure isn't released through the bath taps prior to turning on the shower...

The large DIY sheds sell a product which softens silicone mastic allowing it to be removed much easier. I'm sure you can get it elsewhere too.

It does sometimes need a second applicaiton and you must clean with white spirit before applying new sealant.

You'll probably need to tie the ends together. Clothes line is designed not to stick to much so you're unlikley to be able to glue it and even if you did you risk the glue coming off onto clothes. You don't say what you want the fencing for so I'll assume it's just to mark out the boundary. If wind proof is your main objective then something open such as wire or cast iron railings would be best.

With great difficulty. Assuming that you are planning to replace it and leave the wall in place the best place to start might be by getting a structural engineer involved.

The process is likley to involve accuprops to hold the wall in place while the floor is removed.
