buy a dehumidifier an leave it an trickle. it will help remove any moisture and will even heat the house by 1 degree!

we had one in ours before we got heating and it made a huge difference. the want a £200 odd size one, secondhand i paid £25 for a similair size.

commonly cob walls suck water up by osmosis. if lime render is used the water evaporates off no worries and it is not an issue. in the 70's loads of cob walls got cement rendered so the walls can't 'breath'. the render then blows off the wall at 1m high or there abouts. i may be missing someting but yes. either batten it off and fix boards to battens. or dot and dab (blobs of special glue) boards onto wall.

i tthink i have to have a 3amp spur feeding power to receiver and then the 2 wires go between the boiler and receiver as my boiler doesn't seem to have a 23v output.

does this mean i do the wiring for Low voltage?

think this is going to need a photo! i can't picture it mself. the gap is between the internal wall and internal lintel, or the iternal and external lintel?or are you looking up into the cavity?
