Hi,

Upstairs loo is top feed, downstairs is bottom (or other way round can't remember now)

They both make the noise.

Can't see most of pipe work as under floor boards etc.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for reply.

When you say clipped, do you mean are they secured properly?

Will get back to you on top or bottom feed

Cheers

Toilet flush sounds like QE2 arriving at Southampton

When we flush the loo upstairs and downstairs the pipes vibrate very loudly, and sound like the QE2 or similar ocean liner. It doesn't sound like water hammer unless it is a very high frequency version. The house is semi detached and I have noticed next door has the same problem! Any ideas anyone? :...

Cavity or no cavity that is the question

Hi

I recently had some bricks replaced in my Edwardian house and was suprised to see it had a cavity of approx 1 inch wide.

Is this wide enough to get filled with insulator?

Or is there a minimum width?

Cheers

floorboard partial cleaning

I just want to clean a certain area of my floor boards without doing the whole lot.

What is the best stuff for cleaning or should I sand?

If so what should I finish with?

Thanks in advance

floor board gaps

Hi,

I want to fill my floor board gaps.

You mention Gapseal but don't say what the maximum gap width is that can be filled using this method.

Some of my gaps are 5 to 10mm or so.

Will this stuff work?

Cheers

light switch spacers?

I am in the process of fitting chrome switch wall fittings. Unfortunately some of the metal boxes in the wall are not deep enough to accept the depth of the terminal block on the back of the switch unit (anoyingly so!). This must be a common problem, where can I get spacers to stand off the switch f...

Earthing light switches

I want to replace my plastic light switches with chrome ones. Can I rely on the continuity between the fixing screws and the existing metal box to earth the front face? Otherwise I'm going to have to run a little earth wire from the cage to the front face for every light which will be a real pain in...

Before I dive in and tear taps apart is it the general consensus that the washer is the problem?

Just seems coincidental it happened after a boiler srvice.......!
