Re: Advantages of Caravan With Own Address on Our Property

As you describe it, your caravan does not sound that appealing so renting it out might be a challenge! If there is no benefit to it (ie, you're not even prepared to use it and it is going to be difficult to rent), why pay council tax to keep it. If this is the case, I'd remove it and inform that cou...

Re: Loft Conversion Pre-1985 and Building Regulations

New building regulations cannot be retrospectively enforced. If you were to have any alterations made to the property it is likely that you would have to bring various aspects of the building in line with the modern building regulations of the time, particularly if they impinge on the alterations. G...

Hi jack32,
Any chance you could attached a photo?

Have you raise this with the people that sold it to you? It would be interesting to hear what they say.

Re: Condensation Possibly Causing Paint Peeling off Walls?

If it keeps happening it would be worth getting to the root cause of the problem. You're obviously just treating the symptoms which can be a waste of money. You don't say where this paint peeling is occurring, as this will give you an indication if it is condensation, which is more common in 'wet' a...

Re: Corrugated Bitumen Sheet Fence and reducing traffic noise

I've not tried this solution, but it would be great to hear how effective it is. The issue that you have is that the sound will take the path of least resistance and diffuse to reach you, even if you totally block any sound coming through the fence. The sound that comes over the fence will be imposs...

Re: Opinions of Lusso Stone Resin Range to Kit out Bathrooms

I've not used them, but did a quick search for reviews that people have left online. There is one review about the wrong product being shipped which they replaced, but otherwise they all were pretty positive. The really nice think is that they responded to all the reviews, good and bad, which sugges...

Tricky one, if painting is off the 'menu'! Have a look at the colour theory of design to get you started:

Re: Help Needed Identifying Parts of Flat Pack Furniture Set

These are cam locks and dowels.

You can find them if you search for "flat pack furniture fixings" and there are lots of sites that sell them. You'll have a bit of a boring job searching though them to find the ones you need.

I'm sure that it would work, and would be relatively easy to do. Make sure the are safe though: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/el ... safety.htm

Or you could position the blender near the plug if you have a counter top socket?

Re: Advice on Insulating Roof of New Block Gym Building in Back Garden

I would use slab insulation or insulation batts (Celotex or Polystyrene will do). Push and fix these up against the corrugated roof sheets between the joists. Any condensation should run down the roof slope and away not causing any issues. We've got lots of information about building sheds here is t...

Re: What Type of Paint to use to Cover Decorators Caulk Without Cracking

Hi Damo, The cracks are due to the paint drying too quickly as the underlying surface has 'sucked' out the moisture making it dry and shrink causing the cracks. You should prime the surface before painting to stop this happening. Have a look at this project for guidance on priming surfaces before pa...

Re: Laying Carpet onto Magnesite Floor That's Laid onto Concrete

If the Magnesite is not damp then there is little point doing anything to it. As it is flexible you can put soft covering like carpet over it and you should be fine.

If you are going to fit the carpet yourself, you can get some tip here: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/layingacarpet.htm

Have you checked the heating element? These can be replaced relatively cheaply (compared to buying a new cooker) and could be the cause.

Most manufacturers have a helpline which can talk you through basic diagnosis.

Re: Had Anyone Else Used Your Timber Windows Ltd Dagenham

This sounds a trick situation. You have two issues; firstly the FENSA certificate determines if the windows meet building regulations. The aesthetics/quality of the job (assuming the FENSA certificate has been issued) needs to be addressed directly with the firm who fitted them. You should always ke...
