I don't think there is a problem with the trusses, the problem is fixing the lights to a combustable surface. I did this in my parents loft recently and had to hang the lights on short lengths of chain to comply with the manufacturers instructions.
there is also the matter of Part P as moger 4 says

There is no need for a board change, just RCBOs on the circuits not protected by RCDs, however, if the rewire was done before the change in regs you don't need to upgrade unless you want to, it depends on the exact date you had the board fitted. If it was before the 17th then you comply. Providing a...

with regards to question 3, if there is a loose connection then this will cause a build up of heat, which will increase the resistance, hence why the continuity reading would increase, hence why A is correct, that and the fact none of the others are right!!! if you don't know the answer you can ofte...

don't assume the MCBs or fuses are labelled correctly. It may be you have lost A wire to one of your lights (either the live or neutral) which means every light from that point on won't work. I am slightly confused though by your post as you say you have replaced the fuse wire but you are suprised t...

don't forget to put earth sleeving pn the old earth before you 'park' it in the fitting. don't be tempted to cut it off, it'll really mess someone up later if they want to fit a metal fitting (and it's against the regs!!)

it rather depends on the layout of the electrics in the house. you could put it onto a switched fused spur from your socket circuit, or change the cable set up so it goes onto the lighting circuit, however, as both these involve new cable the work would be notifiable under part P regulations. Also t...

Usually the earthing is good enough to be able to meet the disconection time even with a Ctype, if it isn't you could change to a C type RCBO which gets around the problem of tripping in the required time as it is rated at 30ma (ion the RCD side and whatever you need on the overload side). Thats how...

whilst a periodic inspection is reccommended between tenants it is not as far as I am aware (and as always I stand to be corrected) yet a legal requirement, regretably, otherwise we could have a nice steady stream of extra income! of course if you don't have one done and something goes wrong you'rei...

someone has been nice to you and identified the switch live for you, thats the black with the red sleeve. this goes to the brown wire on your new light fitting. the blacks are neutrals and go with the neutral on your light (which will be blue - new colours). All the earths naturally go together If t...

yes, to ensure it's electrical safety don't do it!! for the reasons given above, this would be totally illegal, dangerous and will invalidate your house insurance. This cable may well not be rated high enough for your shower, likewise the breaker. This circuit is almost certainly not RCD protected, ...
