If the pipe buried in the concrete is not sleeved, the concrete will corrode the pipe. Therefore it is best to replace it by running a new water main from the main stop cock in the street to your boundary in poly 25-28mm. If you put a new stop cock somewhere close to your boundary, the water company...

It may have seized up through hard water limescale. How old is it ?

I turn mine all the way round once or twice each month to keep it loose, also before I turn my shower off i run it for 10 seconds on cold so to get the warm water out of the mixer. The warm water is what produces scale.

You shouldn't have to change all the pipework. When the new one is fitted the installer should do a power flush which clean's out all your sludge. Simply by not changing the pipes you'll save a bit of money, which you can throw the saving on the boiler. I too reccomend the Vaillant. Have one myself,...

Great idea to swap them over elsewhere - didn't think of that - DOH !

Problem is I think the cold comes from above and hot from below, so won't be that easy.

I'm thinking it might just be easier to find a mixer that does use the hot on the right.

Thanks all.

cheers Rosebery Not quite sure, I think cold comes from above and hot from below. I had the immersion and tank removed from the loft when i fitted the condensing boiler, so think that's where the cold comes from. The new mixer fits exactly. I tried it today. It doesn't work with the hot and cold the...

[quote="plumbbob"]I got caught out with an Aqualisa shower with reversed supplies fairly recently, and I fit them for a job! I don't see why the valve cannot be mounted upside down. Apart from the lettering being difficult to see, the only problem may be the hose because it points upwards,...
