Re: Which way Round for Central Heating Air Separator

Looks like I've found the answer myself. I found this document on the manufacturer website:

https://www.tfc-group.co.uk/assets/grap ... 2_Spec.pdf

That shows a typical installation with the input from the boiler at the top and the output at the bottom.

I thought that installer was an idiot. Now I know

Which way Round for Central Heating Air Separator

My central heating has an air separator that looks like this one: The pipe from the boiler comes in on the lower pipe on the left in the picture and the pipe out to the pump is the higher one on the right. This don't seem right to me - just a simple diy household...

Re: Convert Double Switch to Single for Controlling 2 Lights in a Room

Eric - thanks for taking the trouble to answer. I had thought about using a double pole switch but I thought they were mainly for power circuits and would look out of place as a light switch. From what you say there's nothing unsafe about wiring both circuits through one single pole switch as long a...

Convert Double Switch to Single for Controlling 2 Lights in a Room

I have a two lights in one room each controlled by its own switch and the two switches are wired separately and mounted side by side in one double switch unit. I would prefer to have both lights controlled by one single switch. If I wire the two switch wires together into one single switch I dare sa...

Share ch boiler with back boiler

I plan to replace my old Ideal CH gas boiler. It runs only the radiators. I get my hot water from a gas-fired Rayburn cooker. I want to keep the Rayburn, but it's a very inefficient way of getting hot water and I tend to use it only in the winter. Ideally, I would like to have a system with pipes &a...

The latest BS3621 (2005) calls for a bolt throw of 20mm rather than the 14mm of the previous version. That is the main difference between the two. How do you find out? First measure the bolt throw. Second take the lock out and if it conforms to whichever version of BS 3621 it should be stamped ontt...

Locks required for home insurance - BS3621

My door has a rim deadlock - which is at least 10 years old but works fine. How can I tell if it meets current requirements for my insurance policy - which states BS3621? Also I have some sash windows which are locked with the old style brass thumbscrew - circa 1900. I assume these don't come up to ...
