Re: Cooker Circuit With Kitchen Ring Main Running off?

Many thanks for your very comprehensive reply. I think I will get the cooker connected up by an independent registered electrician rather than the shop that will deliver. That way if anything else needs doing it can all be done in one go. Just concerned that if an additional MCB has to be added to t...

Cooker Circuit With Kitchen Ring Main Running off?

I have not had an electric freestanding cooker in my kitchen for sometime but now need to get one. A radial circuit for the cooker is present with a cooker control switch with neon and the cable outlet plate so was hoping the installer would be able to connect up to this. Looking at the consumer uni...

Slow Filling Toilet Cistern and Mains Pressure not Great

My toilet cistern is getting slower and slower to refill. It's never been extremely fast and I know my mains pressure is not brilliant but this is now a problem. I am thinking of replacing the inlet valve completely with something better but how do I go about it and what would a better type be? It i...

Thank you. When I take it down I will post some photos of the inside and appreciate further help at that stage. Cheers.

Repairing old Light Fixture That's Failed

I have had this light fixture for many years and it has just completely failed. When switched on I can hear a faint clicking noise from inside but no light. I suspect there maybe a transformer inside that has failed. The bulb fixtures state Max 35w 12v MR16. Is there any way of repairing this or mod...

Re: RING Video Doorbell Pro Wiring

Thank you for this. What is confusing me though is the 30VA figure as that is clearly not amps. Is this a figure that can be converted to amps or is it reliant on other factors?

Re: RING Video Doorbell Pro Wiring
You can not find such a power supply as you mention because the information you have is in error. It does require 18 - 24v ac but it is not 30 Amps (That is more than some electric cookers use) I would guess you mean 30 mA
My apologies for the error: The instructi...

RING Video Doorbell Pro Wiring

I would like to install the RING Video Doorbell Pro but currently do not have a wired bell. I gather in the kit there is a transformer to enable a power supply to be installed but it is of the type that has to be installed in the consumer unit. As I am not an electrician I cannot do that. Could this...

UPVC door with "Wind Up" mechanism for lock

My current front door has what I believe is called a "Wind Up" lock mechanism where you have to rotate the key through 360 degrees several times to engage the multi point lock. Is there any way to upgrade / convert this to a much more modern system to engage the bolts without changing the ...

Water Softner Install In Electrics Cupboard? - What Laws Or Rules

I am considering having a water softener installed that is of the type that uses block salt. The only place this can be installed is in the cupboard where the consumer units and meter are etc. Are there any restrictions on having such water based appliances very near to this electrical equipment? Th...
