The cistern is ceramic. I don't know its exact age, but it's rather old, it goes with the cast iron bath and he got a period hand basin and pedestal to match. He's a bit of fan of older stuff.

I think that adjustable syhpon will be just the ticket, thanks :)

Many thanks for the reply :) The screwfix looks like it could do the trick if it's adjustable over a wide range of water-height. Unforunately, the bath is on the other side of the room.
