fischer has a couple of solutions.

If the hole is not too big, the PD nylon fixing is great.

Also in the Screwfix book there is the Fill n fix product.
It expands slightly into a sleeve. If you pilot drill the foam when it has gone off you can screw straight into it.

Thermalite

There is a great product from fischer called the 'Aircrete anchor' that uses a specially designed drill (PBB) to create an undercut hole which you fill with resin and insert a stud.
This becomes stronger than the block.

Resin fixings will work as well in Tension as Shear as long as the bricks can take it.

Just make sure that the holes are well brushed out and blown out to ensure the resin and sleeve, well recomended by the way, adhere to the brick.

The earlier reply was correct, to use the correct fixings in the first place, but there are acouple of thing to help afterwards. You could try 'fischer wet and fix' which is a simple repair for plasterboard and wall fixing of use the hole you have and use a fischer HM 5x37 S which will expand behind...
