Hi, as they have already been painted I would scrape off all the loose paint, give them a good rub down and wash, then undercoat and gloss. I would use Dulux oil based paint. I prefer to use Dulux as I find it lasts quite well and is hardwearing. Plastic pipes are not meant to be painted really, jus...

Hi, what surface did you put the paper on ie, gloss paint bare plasterboard etc and did you size the walls first. Let us know and we may be able to give more ideas on how to put it right.

Hi Mike, to start with are you sure that it is plasterboard and not plaster that you can see. If it is plasterboard there will be a paper finish. If this is the case then your best option would be to strip off all the paper and loose emulsion first. After doing this put PVA on the walls then get the...

Hi, try using a glass paint scrape on them. Try not to dig it in to the UPVC. It should come off that way. Then use a UPVC cleaner to get the marks off that it may have left. I wouldn't try any of the other methods you have mentioned as they could damage the frames. Good luck. Shed.

Hi, yes you will need to put on a mist coat or 2. If you don't then there is a chance that it may start to peel or crack. I would use something like a Dulux trade white or magnolia to seal the walls which will be cheaper than your topcoat but is still a decent emulsion. Choose the one that closely m...

Hi migwell, if as you say it is a new house why would the builder have painted the front door if it is UPVC. This doesn't make much sense and even if he did then the paint shouldn't be coming off yet if it was applied properly. Usually these type of doors are only painted when the finish has become ...

Hi cooperman, you can paper over gloss paint but you will need to give the walls a good rub down with glass paper first then wash them down to give the size something to adhere to. If you get patches where the size doesn't dry out then you need to wash those bits off and rub them down again before r...

Hi Amanda, there should be no reason that you can't paint it in your prefered colour. Just go into your local B&Q or similar DIY store and get them to mix it for you. They should be able to mix it in any colour that you want and in bathroom paint. It will be better to use this type of paint as i...

Hi, I would say as you want to emulsion the walls to go along with acsimpson on this one and get the walls skimmed first then you will have good walls to paint and will not get this problem in the future. If you are going to do it yourself, remove any loose paper then give the wall a coat of PVA, al...

Hi stoneyboy, just thought I would let you know that it was the motherboard that was faulty. Had to take it to the shop to get it done. I was sure that it was the HDD but turned out to be the other. I only had new motherboard 2 years ago so I didn't think it would be that. As the HDD is getting on t...

Hi, I ran disc check on it and it came up with loads of faults so am guessing it must be the HDD. It has never come up with anything wrong on it before. Once I have got it going it seems to work fine apart from the odd bit like it won't recognise my flash drive so that I can load my pics etc on to i...

Could my HDD be on the way out

Hi, when I turn on my PC a lot of the time it will not boot up and sometimes it will boot then it freezes. I turn it on and the red HDD comes on but it is a solid light and not a blinking one. Anyone got any ideas. I have had my PC for a number of years about 8 I think and about 18 months ago had ne...

Hi geezer, glad to hear that it came out right in the end. Personally I would have missed out the PVA as I don't like using it on walls as it sometimes causes bubbles in the paint similar to wallpaper paste but in very small amounts it would probably be fine. The main thing is that you now have a fi...

Hi pammy, some emulsion will always come off when stripping the old wallpaper. If it's coming off in large amounts then the walls were probably not sealed properly in the first place, ie with a mist coat of emulsion which is a watered down first coat to seal the walls. You could get some fine glassp...

Hi mark, try scraping a small piece of the paint from the bottom corner of the wall and take that in with you and ask them to match it up. Good luck.
